Security
Security is a fundamental aspect of developing and playing a multiplayer game. Onyx offers its users a safe environment in which they can steam off and show off their skills. To provide a secure environment, Onyx uses AWS scalable servers. This enables us to effectively counter potential threats to cyber security and implement control mechanisms to minimize future risks.
As Security is a serious topic for us, we aim to achieve better security standards like enable multi factor authentication to keep identities safe, comply with PCI DSS and institute safe online payments to protect financial information, ensure confidentiality of databases to prevent sensitive information from being disclosed, stop back date frauds, protect against DoS and DDoS attacks, embed security in the entire game development life cycle from release campaigns to marketing etc., against in-game phishing via messaging features within games.
Internal IT controls have been integrated to ensure compliance with future regulatory requests.
Security-Framework The first step was finding a universal security framework. We have chosen a framework that is compatible with most game engines and platforms. This framework can provide user authentication, authorization and management as well as network security. After choosing the framework, was the next step to implement it. To do this we had to set up a security server and connect it to the Onyx universe. Once the security server is set up, we need to connect it to the clients accessing the Onyx universe. The last step is to configure the security server. The server are properly configured to meet our needs.
Dangers of online gaming and tips against them At Onyx Games, we take security very seriously, especially when it comes to our players' privacy. We know there are risks associated with online gaming, so we have some tips to help you protect yourself:
Malware and Viruses: Use some reputable antivirus software and keep it up to date. Also, be careful not to download or install unfamiliar software.
Identity theft: use a strong password for your Onyx account as well as for all other online accounts and don't forget to change your password regularly. Be careful about giving out personal information to strangers - especially online.
Spyware: Install spyware protection programs on all your devices and keep them updated. Regularly delete cookies and temporary internet files from all your web browsers.
DDoS Attacks: This is a form of cyber-attack that attempts to cripple a computer or server by overloading it with requests. Please contact us if you notice any suspicious activity or if you don't suspect it (e.g. suddenly unusually slow game). Phishing emails: These are emails from scammers that attempt to intercept sensitive information (e.g. username and password) or install malware. Please check every e-mail you receive to make sure it is really from us and get in touch with us so that we can warn others not to open these e-mails.
